Contentment took another no-nonsense stride towards the Longines Hong Kong International Races on 13 December with a smooth victory in the HKG2 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy (Handicap) at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday 25 October.
“The (Group 2) Jockey Club Mile will be next and then the international Mile in December,” said trainer John Size, who has long rated the gelding a Group 1 horse in the making.
“He has always shown me that he was a very good horse, from the first day that he walked into the stable. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I thought he was a good horse before he raced. He always did everything correctly – he’s always presented like a good horse.”
Purchased by John Foote Bloodstock for A$65,000 from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at the 2012 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Contentment has risen to every challenge set by trainer John Size. Sunday’s win took the gelding’s record to eight wins from 11 starts and HK$9,754,600 (A$1,750,000) in earnings.
